Amanda Lee Sets the Standard for Care in Professional Baseball

Inside the Tacoma Rainiers’ locker room, Amanda Lee’s treatment table sees it all—from top prospects to players fighting for their next opportunity. And no matter who steps up, the care stays the same.
“One thing I really pride myself on is treating everyone the same,” Lee said. “I don’t care if it’s a big leaguer or someone just called up… the level of care is always the same.”
Lee’s path into athletic training started with her own injury. A misdiagnosed basketball issue in high school led to surgery—and a deep dive into understanding the human body.
“I wanted to know exactly what they were going to be doing,” she said.
That curiosity turned into a career. After studying athletic training at the University of Tulsa and earning a dual master’s in kinesiology and sports psychology, Lee set her sights on baseball. Since 2019, she has worked her way up through the Mariners’ system, now serving with the Triple-A Rainiers and as an assistant minor league athletic training coordinator.
Her role goes far beyond the basics.
“We develop rehab programs, manage emergency care, and coordinate with physicians and staff,” Lee said. “We wear a lot of hats.”
In a fast-moving environment where players can be called up at any moment, Lee’s work behind the scenes is critical.
“Even though most of the work happens behind the scenes… the result is that players can compete at the highest level.”
And for Lee, that impact is what matters most. Check out the full story here!
