“Ms. Sturgeon does an awesome job as our athletic trainer. She spends countless hours taking care of our athletes from middle school to high school. She serves as an outstanding mentor to her student athletic trainers and creates a learning environment for them to succeed. We're blessed to have her in Ingleside.”
Sturgeon’s dedication stems from her own high school experience as a student trainer.
“My high school Athletic Trainers inspired me to pursue this as a career. One of them attended Texas Lutheran University and recommended their program to me.”
Now, with a master’s in athletic training and a bachelor’s in kinesiology from Texas Lutheran University, Sturgeon is a nationally certified and Texas-licensed athletic trainer. Her responsibilities span five domains: injury prevention, evaluation/diagnosis, emergency care, rehabilitation, and administration.
“I usually see athletes at their lowest point. Helping them regain trust in their bodies and confidence to return to the sport they love is the most rewarding part of my job.”
Sturgeon also takes pride in mentoring her student trainers, fostering teamwork and respect.
“I expect a lot from them and work to instill both practical first-aid skills and appropriate social skills."
When she’s not ensuring athlete safety or guiding future trainers, Sturgeon enjoys baking—a passion she hopes to turn into a bakery someday.
Her tireless efforts and commitment to excellence make Sturgeon an invaluable part of Ingleside athletics, ensuring every Mustang has the support they need to thrive.
