Kevin Mangum, a pillar of the New Orleans Saints Athletic Training staff for 44 years, announced his retirement today. One of the longest-serving members in the organization’s history, Mangum began as an intern during the team’s 1980 training camp and was hired full-time by former Head Athletic Trainer Dean Kleinschmidt at the start of the 1981 season.

Reflecting on his remarkable career, Mangum expressed deep gratitude for his time with the Saints.

"I have worked for a first-class organization with amazing people and special friends for 44 years. As I close out my time here, it has become even more evident how very fortunate I am to have spent over half my life working for the New Orleans Saints," Mangum said. "I have always worked to embrace God's perfect will for my life, and I know now, without a doubt, that it was his will that I remain with this football club for my entire career."

Mangum played an integral role in the Saints’ historic moments, contributing to two NFC West Division Championships, seven NFC South Division Championships, 14 playoff teams, three NFC Championship appearances, and the franchise’s first Super Bowl victory in 2009.

Saints Owner Gayle Benson praised Mangum’s contributions, stated:

"His hard work and selflessness have left a lasting impact, and he will always be welcome in our organization."

Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis echoed the sentiment, calling Mangum "the epitome of professionalism" and "a cherished member of the fabric of the New Orleans Saints."

He was the NFC recipient of the 2015 Tim Davey Assistant Athletic Trainer Award, as voted on by his NFL peers with the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society.

Saints legend Archie Manning, who has known Mangum since his high school days, added:

"Kevin is the absolute best, and I wish him, his wife Susie, and their entire family nothing but the best moving forward."

Mangum’s legacy will be remembered as he embarks on his well-earned retirement. Read the the full story here
