Articles for Athletic Trainers and News Stories
As always, we love it when ATs get recognized... and so we wanted to share this story about how the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District in Idaho recently celebrated the exceptional contributions of the Portneuf Athletic Trainers team by bestowing upon them the prestigious Employee-of-the-Month P.I.E.S. Award!

They wanted to honor those who "positively influence educational success," especially when they consistently go above and beyond in their efforts.

ATs honored as employee of the month in IdahoThe team, comprising Brice Anderson, Stefani Born, Britt Udy, Olivia Feller, Jen Jewell, Bailey Fry, program director Brent Faure, and COO Portneuf Medical Director Nate Carter, was nominated by District Athletic Director Ms. Tonya Wilkes for their extraordinary dedication to student-athletes.

In her heartfelt nomination, Ms. Wilkes remarked:

"Our dedicated Athletic Trainers play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, helping them perform at their best while minimizing the risks of injuries. Their commitment to our athletes and fans goes beyond the call of duty, and it is essential that we acknowledge and express our gratitude for their tireless efforts."

She specifically noted their pivotal role in a recent emergency at an activity held at HHS Stadium in October. And she went on to acknowledge all of their responsibilities:

  • They are instrumental in injury prevention, creating sport-specific programs to reduce the likelihood of sports-related injuries. In situations of immediate care, these athletic trainers provide prompt and proper treatment to injured athletes during practices and games. Their expertise extends to designing and overseeing rehabilitation programs, assisting athletes in their recovery to full health and participation.
  • Moreover, their role in educating student-athletes about injury prevention, nutrition, hydration, and overall well-being is invaluable. In emergencies, their training and quick response are vital for the safety of participants and spectators alike. They also play a key role in concussion management and mental health support, addressing the holistic needs of athletes in the competitive sports environment.
Ms. Wilkes emphasized, "I wanted to take this opportunity to formally recognize the dedication and hard work of our athletic trainers. This acknowledgment will not only express our gratitude but also highlight the significance of their role in our schools.”

The Portneuf Athletic Trainers were honored at the board of trustees meeting on November 14. Their recognition sets a shining example of the impact dedicated individuals can have in the realm of educational and athletic excellence.
