Here are three exciting updates in the world of athletic training:
The Erie Otters have named Maegan Briant as their new Head Athletic Trainer. A native of the Greater Pittsburgh Area, Briant previously worked with the Junior Sabres through UBMD Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Known for her proactive approach and commitment to continuous learning, she brings valuable expertise to the Ontario Hockey League team. Otters General Manager Dave Brown praised Briant’s knowledge, experience, and dedication to athlete well-being, calling her a “highly valuable asset” to the organization. Her arrival marks an important addition to the Otters’ Hockey Operations Department.
Miranda Cervantes – Texas Wesleyan University Head Athletic Trainer
Texas Wesleyan University has appointed Miranda Cervantes, ATC, LAT, MS, as Head Athletic Trainer. Cervantes holds a bachelor’s in athletic training from Linfield College, a master’s in kinesiology from Southeastern University, and is pursuing a Doctorate of Athletic Training at Temple University. She previously served as head athletic trainer at Keiser University, overseeing football, softball, and women’s lacrosse, and also worked as interim assistant athletic director of sports medicine. Her certifications include kinesiology taping, Master Dry Needling, and blood flow restriction, and she is an active member of NATA. Cervantes’ diverse experience and advanced credentials make her a strong leader for the Rams’ sports medicine program.
Kristen Bryant – Centenary College Assistant Athletic Trainer
Centenary College has welcomed Kristen Bryant as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in its Sports Medicine Department. A native of Mesquite, Texas, Bryant earned her bachelor’s in athletic training from East Texas Baptist University and her master’s from Tarleton State University. She has worked with football and women’s soccer at Tarleton State and completed an internship with UNC’s women’s soccer program. Bryant’s leadership roles include serving on the SWATA Student Senate, helping found the TSATA Collegiate Leadership Program, and earning the NATA Bobby Gunn Student Leadership Award in 2024. With her strong clinical background and leadership experience, Bryant is poised to make an immediate impact at Centenary.
