Bills' Damar Hamlin in critical condition after collapse on the field
January 3, 2023: Damar Hamlin, defensive back for the Buffalo Bills, is in critical condition after a hit during the game with the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night. In the first quarter, he collapsed after tackling a player and sources say that his heart stopped.
Hamlin was given medical treatment for 20 minutes on the field before being taken to the local hospital.
“Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment,” according to the Buffalo Bills in a statement. “He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”
The Athletic Trainers and other medical personnel administered CPR and used an AED (automated external defibrillator) to treat the injured Hamlin. Sources even saw oxygen being provided as he was placed in the ambulance.
The thoughts and prayers from all of us at Healthy Roster are with Damar, his family, close friends, and teammates.
