Healthy Roster - Ohio State Epic Integration
Ohio State Launches Epic-Healthy Roster Integration to Showcase the Impact of Outreach Sports Medicine Program
In February 2020, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Sports Medicine team completed a full Healthy Roster - Epic integration to all OSU outreach athletic trainers. This integration means that the team at OSU can communicate better and share data faster with other healthcare providers.
Here’s why it matters:
- Sports medicine providers can now pull claims data and reports that will help them quantitatively demonstrate their impact
- Match existing or create new patients in Epic and send CCDAs/incidents into Epic, creating a continuity of care throughout the entire hospital system
- Validate downstream revenue, showcasing the role of athletic trainers as instrumental healthcare professionals, enhancing Sports Medicine Department’s true value
"The ability to integrate our platform with clinical EHRs like Epic is unique to Healthy Roster in the sports medicine software space," said Dan Fronczak, President and co-Founder of Healthy Roster. "One of our main goals as a company is to promote and validate the role of sports medicine departments, and the role of athletic trainers in particular, as an integral part of the health care team. Integrations to the healthcare system's overall electronic medical records is one of the most successful ways to do that."
The Healthy Roster-Epic integration also allows athletic trainers to document injuries and communicate with student-athletes (or their parents) in a platform that's built specifically for them.
It's a win-win situation: sports medicine providers at OSU can validate their impact in the system that the rest of the healthcare system uses, without sacrificing the personalized interface that an athletic training-specific software like Healthy Roster provides.
"We want to thank OSU’s sports medicine team, their Epic project managers, and our own software developers for the collaboration and effort that made this integration a success," said Fronczak.
