Niemann's skills were truly showcased during a frightening incident on a football field. With a team of paramedics standing by, Niemann helped ensure that a player received prompt and comprehensive care, highlighting his role in emergency situations.
Away from the field, Niemann's been an asset to Cass Health. In his multifaceted role, he collaborates with orthopedic surgeons in the operating room, extends patient care in the clinic, and manages the AT room at Atlantic High School.
His passion stems from his personal experiences with sports, including football, basketball, baseball, and golf. A past injury sparked his interest in sports medicine, driving him to a career that seamlessly blends healthcare and his love for sports.
Niemann's dedication goes beyond his job. He's an active member of his community, contributing to his church, engaging in local youth sports organizations, and promoting the importance of sports among children and their mentors.
His philosophy, "It’s a great day to get better," inherited from a former coach, reflects his proactive approach in both his personal and professional life.
The Hospital Heroes program, initiated in 2007, acknowledges and celebrates hospital employees who have either showcased unparalleled bravery during critical situations or have tirelessly dedicated themselves to their hospitals and communities throughout their professional journeys.
Niemann was one of the ten individuals chosen for the 2023 honor, selected from over 30 nominations submitted by their peers.
The Iowa Hospital Association, with its roots in representing hospital and health system interests, acts as a bridge between these institutions and various stakeholders, including businesses, governments, and their community.
Currently, the association proudly represents 117 community hospitals. Niemann's recognition as a Hospital Hero reinforces the immense value and dedication professionals like him bring to the healthcare arena.
