Jen Mag: The Heart of Otsego Athletics for Over 27 Years

Articles for Athletic Trainers and News StoriesAt Healthy Roster, we love putting the spotlight on ATs and Jen Mag, Otsego’s Athletic Trainer for over 27 years, is another one we'd love to feature for you!

According to nearly everyone, she is a constant source of positive energy and support for the athletes and community she serves!

“The support I received from here early in my career made me not want to leave. The people here are genuine and care like no others. I truly feel blessed by the amount of kindness shown to me over the years.”

Mag, a 1995 Bowling Green State University graduate, has made a significant mark on the community, assisting Otsego athletes in their recovery and return to action.

She said she takes pride in:

“Watching an athlete come back after an injury and seeing teams celebrate even the smallest victories.”

Otsego Hall of Famer Jim Bostdorff called her “a ray of sunshine,” noting her knowledge and ability to get injured athletes back on the field. Others, like former athlete and current Athletic Trainer Kylee Dennison, were inspired by Mag’s unwavering support.

“She is truly every athlete’s biggest fan and always has a smile on her face."

Mag’s dedication extends beyond Otsego, having worked at the 2002 Winter Olympics and other national events. Still, her heart remains with Otsego, where she continues to invest 40 to 60 hours per week during the school year.

For Mag, the greatest reward comes when former athletes return to share the impact she made on their lives.

“I thoroughly enjoy and am humbled when an athlete comes back years later."

As Bostdorff concluded:

“Otsego is blessed to have her all these years. She’s the best.”
