Longtime Head Athletic Training Legend Announces Retirement
Terry Collins, who has served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the University of Evansville Athletics since 1987, recently announced his retirement.
His final day with the Purple Aces is set for August 12. The university will honor Collins with a reception on August 7 from 4-6 p.m. at Accelerated Growth Capital in Evansville.
UE Director of Athletics Dr. Ziggy Siegfried stated:
"Terry's leadership has led to Sports Medicine at UE being one of our greatest strengths. Terry has made a difference in the lives of so many. This includes thousands of student-athletes and aspiring Certified Athletic Trainers who have gone on to have impactful careers."
To commemorate Collins's legacy, UE has established the Terry Collins Sports Medicine Excellence Fund.
This fund will assist the Athletic Training staff in completing ongoing CEUs, engaging in new methods for injury prevention and rehabilitation, and ensuring high-quality care for UE's 250+ student-athletes.
Collins, a UE graduate and former pitcher for the Aces baseball team, has been pivotal in shaping the careers of nearly 200 Certified Athletic Trainers.
His contributions were recognized with the Jim Byers Award at the 2024 ACESPYs, honoring his dedication to UE Athletics.
