More New Athletic Trainer Hires Across the Country!

Athletic Trainers are on the move! We've collected more new hire updates from the across the country and wanted to share them with you here: 

  • Babson College has hired Athletic Trainer Elizabeth Scheurich, who brings valuable experience from her time at Boston College, where she worked with various sports teams while earning her master’s degree in 2023. Scheurich has also gained clinical experience at Biddeford and Portland High Schools. A former student-athlete at the University of New England, Scheurich played softball and earned degrees in health science and athletic training. Babson’s Director of Athletics Performance, Rick Burr, praised Scheurich’s experience and welcomed her to the Babson community. Scheurich expressed her excitement about joining Babson, eager to start her professional career in this supportive environment.
  • St. Lawrence University has hired Becca Rohrer as its newest Athletic Trainer. Rohrer returns to Canton after previously overseeing medical coverage at St. Lawrence's summer sports camps in 2018. Since then, she has gained extensive experience in sports medicine, including roles at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Penn College, Simmons University, St. Mary's College of Maryland, and Bucknell University. At Penn College, she managed five sports and handled various administrative tasks. Rohrer brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having worked with numerous athletic programs across different institutions.
  • Hawai’i Hilo Athletics has welcomed Scott Pope as the newest Athletic Trainer on the Vulcans Sports Medicine staff. Pope brings over 30 years of experience, having previously worked at institutions like the College of the Canyons, University of Montana-Western, and most recently in Texas independent school districts. A California native, he holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in kinesiology from California State University, Northridge. Pope expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s been a life-long dream to live in Hawai’i. I look forward to working with the Vulcans student-athletes and coaches.”
  • Mackenzie Nuss has joined Wartburg College's athletic training staff, as announced by Associate Athletic Director and Head Athletic Trainer Ryan Callahan. Nuss previously worked at Cedar Valley Medical Specialists for five years as an outreach and orthoagility athletic trainer. She also has experience at youth and high school levels, as well as internships with professional teams like the Arizona Diamondbacks and Iowa Cubs. Nuss holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa and a master's degree from Western Michigan University. Callahan praised her passion for student-athlete care, and she began her duties on August 5.
  • Hunter College Athletics has welcomed Ashley Joi Morrison as an Athletic Trainer for the 2024-25 academic year. Morrison brings extensive experience, having previously served as Head Athletic Trainer at St. Joseph's University and worked with Brooklyn Nets Entertainment. She also provided care for NYCFC Academy teams during her time at Major League Soccer. With a BS/MS in Sports Science from Long Island University and a PhD in progress, Morrison’s diverse background makes her a valuable addition to Hunter College’s staff.
