NATM Spotlight: From Sidelines to Hall of Fame! Meet AT Tanya Miller

Shippensburg University Assistant Director of Sports Medicine Tanya Miller, MS, ATC, ‘97, will be inducted into the Pennsylvania Athletic Training Hall of Fame in 2026, recognizing decades of leadership and service to the profession. Miller will be formally honored during an induction ceremony on June 5.
The announcement comes during National Athletic Training Month (NATM), a time dedicated to celebrating the impact Athletic Trainers have on athletes, communities, and the healthcare system. Miller’s career reflects the very spirit of NATM, with a focus on advocacy, education, and advancing the profession.
“This is such an incredible honor,” Miller said. “I am humbled to have been chosen to join the ranks of such tremendous pioneers and visionaries of our profession. I want to thank all my colleagues and leaders in PATS (Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society) that have shown me the gratitude, camaraderie, and fulfillment that comes from volunteering. Our society highlights the best of what ‘giving back’ means and I am grateful to be a small part of that.”
According to the Pennsylvania Athletic Training Hall of Fame, Miller’s selection reflects her extensive contributions to athletic training throughout the Commonwealth. She has served as Chair of the PATS Governmental Affairs Committee since 2011, helping champion legislative and licensing efforts for Athletic Trainers.
Miller has also served on the PATS Executive Board and contributed to national and state governmental affairs initiatives.
Beyond advocacy, Miller has supported medical teams for NCAA Division II championship events and produced research and presentations on emergency action planning and weather-related participation guidelines.
Her career has also earned national recognition, including the NATA Athletic Trainer Service Award and the 2024 PATS Distinguished Merit Award. Full story here! #NATM2026
