New Athletic Trainer Hires Across the Country!

Athletic Trainers are on the move! We've collected new hire updates from the across the country and wanted to share them with you here: 

  • New Hires im Athletic TrainingBrandeis University has announced the addition of Rachel Greenberg to its Athletic Training staff, according to Head Athletic Trainer Lisa DeNicola. Greenberg, originally from Ashland, Massachusetts, holds a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Rhode Island (2022) and an M.S. in Athletic Training from the University of Connecticut. During her graduate studies, she worked with athletic departments at Eastern Connecticut State University, Trinity College, UConn's Division I track and field team, and Manchester High School. As an undergraduate, she gained experience by shadowing and interning in the Athletic Training department.
  • Saint Joseph's College of Maine welcomes Daniel Mills as a new Certified Athletic Trainer. A Lewiston, Maine, resident, Daniel brings fresh energy and enthusiasm to the Monks. He recently completed his immersive clinical experience at Saint Joseph's, working with every team and gaining valuable insight into the needs of collegiate athletes. Daniel holds a Master's degree in Athletic Training from the University of Southern Maine and a Bachelor's in Health Sciences from the University of New England. Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine, Tiffany Miller-Gagnon, praised his skills, energy, and dedication to athlete care.
  • Jess VanTroostenberghe has been appointed as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine at Ferris State University, where she will also serve as Head Athletic Trainer. Previously the Head Athletic Trainer at Big Rapids High School since 2014, VanTroostenberghe will lead a team of four trainers at Ferris State. Athletic Director Steve Brockelbank praised her as a respected community figure with significant impact potential at the collegiate level. VanTroostenberghe brings extensive experience from roles at Evergreen Physical Therapy, Grand Rapids Gazelle rugby teams, and other organizations. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Adrian College and a master’s degree from the University of Findlay.
  • Lakeland Junior-Senior High School has partnered with Athletic Trainer Michael Kurtz from Parkview Sports Medicine. Kurtz, a Leo High School graduate, studied exercise science at Indiana University and later transferred to Indiana State University, where he earned a degree in applied medicine with a minor in massage therapy, followed by a master’s in athletic training. Eager to join the Laker family, Kurtz said, “I am excited to watch everyone compete and cheer from the sidelines.” He praised Parkview for its diverse network and support system, which allows healthcare providers to pursue personal goals while serving athletes effectively.
  • Jamestown Regional Medical Center has welcomed Mason Ankenbauer as a Certified Athletic Trainer on its sports medicine team. Ankenbauer will work alongside Shawnee Hansen, providing full-time athletic training services for Jamestown High School and Blue Jay varsity athletics. Ankenbauer, a Kenmare native and North Dakota State University graduate, brings experience from working with the NDSU football team. At JRMC, he and Hansen will focus on injury prevention, performance optimization, and rehabilitation for student-athletes. Ankenbauer expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “My goal is to help keep athletes healthy, active, and performing at their best through comprehensive sports medicine and athletic training services.”
  • Marist Associate AD/Health & Performance Jeffrey Carter announced the hiring of Dominic Dutton as Assistant Athletic Trainer. Dutton, a 2024 Marist graduate in Athletic Training, will work with the football and water polo teams. He previously supported the men's basketball team and football team while working in the athletic training room with athletes from various sports. During the summer of 2024, he interned in Strength & Conditioning at Ohio State. A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Dutton played as a defensive end on the Marist football team from 2020-23, served as a team captain, and made the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll all four years.
