New Faces, New Settings: Athletic Trainers on the Move

Healthy Roster loves to keep track of the movements of Athletic Trainers across the country and share where talented professionals are taking the next steps in their careers. From collegiate programs to the secondary school setting, these hires highlight how Athletic Trainers continue to strengthen athlete care at every level.

University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh has welcomed Kyle Dwyer to its athletic training staff, as announced by Athletic Training Director Wade Peitersen. Dwyer said he is excited to join the Titan family and contribute to a department with a strong competitive culture and history of success.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from University of Wisconsin–Platteville in 2018 and his master’s in Athletic Training from Loras College in 2021.

Dwyer brings a wide range of experience across multiple sports. As a student, he worked with football, wrestling, baseball, soccer, track and field, and softball, while also serving as an Athletic Trainer with the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League.

After returning to UW–Platteville as a staff Athletic Trainer from 2021–2024, Dwyer moved on to Youngstown State University, working with football and track and field before joining UW–Oshkosh. Story here!

In Colorado, Delta Health announced a new partnership with Delta High School that brings a certified Athletic Trainer on site for student-athletes.

Grand Valley native Shane Phillips was hired for the role, returning home after nearly 20 years on the Front Range and in Alaska. Delta Health leaders emphasized that having an on-site Athletic Trainer will provide expert care, education, and preventative support.

Phillips, who earned his degree in kinesiology and Athletic Training from University of Colorado Boulder, also completed preseason internships with the Denver Broncos.

Drawing from his own experience with injuries as a high school athlete, Phillips said he is motivated to provide the kind of support he once lacked. Delta Health hopes to expand this partnership to additional high schools in Delta County, further extending Athletic Training services across the region. Story here!
