One Athletic Trainer, Multiple Facilities. How Lynbrook Made Athlete Care Easier

AT News Banner

For Athletic Trainers covering multiple schools or athletic facilities, providing care sometimes means carrying equipment from one location to another, often while juggling practices, games, and athletes who need attention.

That's been a familiar challenge for Amanda O'Sullivan, an Athletic Trainer at Lynbrook High School in New York.

But thanks to a donation from JAG Physical Therapy, her job just got a little easier.

Bringing Athletic Training Closer to the Athletes

For years, O'Sullivan has traveled between Lynbrook's athletic facilities, bringing the supplies and equipment she needed to care for student-athletes.

Now, a new Athletic Training room at Marion Street Elementary School, where many of Lynbrook's teams practice and compete, gives her a second location to evaluate and treat athletes.

According to the Lynbrook/East Rockaway Herald, JAG Physical Therapy donated approximately $4,000 in equipment, including a treatment table, modality cart, hydrocollator, and TENS unit.

The additional space means O'Sullivan no longer has to rely exclusively on the main high school's Athletic Training room or transport as much equipment between facilities.

A Small Investment With a Meaningful Impact

Athletic Trainers often cover multiple teams, sports, and locations, making access to equipment and treatment space especially important.

For Lynbrook's athletes, having another dedicated Athletic Training room means care can be provided closer to where they're practicing and competing.

And for O'Sullivan, it means spending less time moving equipment and more time doing what matters most: caring for her athletes.

It's a great example of how a school and a community partner can work together to support Athletic Trainers and the student-athletes who depend on them.

Congratulations to Amanda O'Sullivan and Lynbrook's athletic program on their new Athletic Training space!
