"We did remarkable in Tokyo. Wrestling had the third most medals for the United States, behind swimming, and track and field."
Hoppis, who began her athletic training career at St. Luke’s University Health Network, has traveled globally with wrestlers for various championships before volunteering at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado in 2016. This extensive experience has not only honed her skills but also solidified her reputation as a trusted Athletic Trainer.
Her approach is deeply rooted in adaptability, a crucial trait during the unpredictable times of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. She emphasized the need for flexibility in both planning and execution:
"You always have to be ready to pivot."
Now at Kutztown University, Hoppis continues to apply her Olympic-level expertise to support student athletes across multiple sports, including field hockey, women’s basketball, and lacrosse.
Her focus extends beyond physical training to include psychological support, recognizing the delicate balance between athletics, academic responsibilities, and personal growth.
As the Paris Olympics approach, with competitions starting on August 5, Hoppis is fueled by the successes at Kutztown and her prior Olympic experiences. She reflected on her anticipation and the unique magic of the Olympic games:
"I’m in an environment surrounded by success. The feeling. It’s almost magical, the Olympic experience. There’s a feeling and an energy. There’s nothing else like it."
