Darryl Conway, the University of Michigan's Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director and Chief Health and Welfare Officer, was inducted into the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Hall of Fame back on June 26.
Conway, who has served as a certified Athletic Trainer for 31 years, becomes the eighth African-American and 15th person of color to receive this honor. He also contributed to the recent update of NATA's 22-year-old position statement on emergency action plans in sports, emphasizing customized, venue-specific strategies.
At Michigan, Conway oversees various health and wellness services for student-athletes, continuing his impactful career in athletic training. Well-deserved, Darryl!
The Lenoir-Rhyne Athletic Training staff has been named the 2023-24 South Atlantic Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year, marking their third win after previous victories in 2015 and 2022.
Led by Michael Flicker, a two-time Jeff L. Norris Non-Teaching LR Employee of the Year, the team of six certified Athletic Trainers provided outstanding care for all 23 athletic programs at the university. Their efforts were crucial during key events like the NCAA Women's Soccer regional and Men's Lacrosse's NCAA opener. Colleagues from other schools praised the staff's dedication and hospitality, recognizing them as leaders in their field.

The Hillsdale College Sports Medicine and Performance Department has been named the 2023-24 G-MAC Athletic Training Staff of the Year, recognized for their exceptional care and preparedness.
This marks the second time Hillsdale has won the award since joining the conference, with their first win in 2019-20. Led by Assistant Athletic Director Tyler Cortright, the team, including head AT Dan Hudson and other dedicated Athletic Trainers, plays a crucial role in keeping athletes healthy and ready to perform.
Their peers across the conference highlighted their hospitality, emergency preparedness, and support for visiting teams as key factors in earning this honor. Awesome work, Hillsdale!
Terry Wansart, Hunter College's Director of Athletics Recreation and certified Athletic Trainer, has been honored with the Richard A. Rasmussen Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA).
This prestigious award, presented at the NACDA Convention, recognizes Wansart's outstanding contributions to NCAA Division III athletics throughout her career. As the longest-serving member of Hunter's athletic department and the college's first female Director of Athletics, Wansart has led the Hawks to numerous championships and played a pivotal role in advancing gender equity and student-athlete success.
Her leadership extends beyond Hunter, with active involvement in NCAA committees and initiatives. Wansart's remarkable impact on athletics has earned her this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for your dedication, Terry!
