Tallahassee Athletic Trainer Shines at Summer Games in Paris
Nicole Alexander, a Tallahassee native, is making waves as an Athletic Trainer for the U.S. Women's Basketball team at the Summer Games in Paris. Alexander calls it an incredible honor:
"It’s one of those things that you never expect to happen no matter how hard you work. And so when you get the honor of being in the Olympics it’s so surreal."
Alexander's journey began at Lincoln High School, where she first delved into athletic training. She later honed her skills at prestigious institutions like Notre Dame and UNC Chapel Hill before joining the WNBA's Connecticut Sun.
Now, as one of two Athletic Trainers for Team USA, Alexander ensures players are in peak condition, working "in the trenches" to provide essential care.
During Monday’s game against Japan, Alexander rushed onto the court to assist Kahleah Copper after a collision. Reflecting on the experience, she said:
“Just that moment of being on the game court where you see the Olympic rings everywhere, there’s no feeling like it.”
The U.S. Women’s Basketball Team secured an impressive 102-76 victory over Japan and clinched a spot in the quarterfinals with a 87-74 win against Belgium. For Alexander, each game and every moment in the Olympic Village solidifies her once-in-a-lifetime experience in Paris.
With her commitment and expertise, Nicole Alexander continues to make her mark on the international stage, supporting athletes in their pursuit of excellence.
