For more than two decades, Athletic Trainer Stan Wong has helped keep some of the world's top hockey players healthy and safe. Now, USA Hockey is recognizing those efforts with one of its highest honors.

Wong has been named the recipient of the Dr. Alan Ashare Excellence in Safety Award, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to improving safety in hockey and who go above and beyond in service to athletes.

He will be honored at the USA Hockey President's Dinner in Denver on June 5.

A resident of Boca Raton, Florida, Wong has served as an Athletic Trainer for the U.S. National Junior Team an incredible 24 times between 2003 and 2026.

During that span, he helped support six gold-medal teams, along with one silver and five bronze medal-winning squads. He has also worked five Olympic Games with Team USA and spent the last 19 years serving at the IIHF Men's World Championships.

USA Hockey leaders praised Wong not only for his clinical expertise, but also for his humility, work ethic, and commitment to the athletes and staff around him. Those qualities have made him a trusted presence throughout international hockey for decades.

Before dedicating himself fully to USA Hockey, Wong worked in professional sports with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Capitals, and Florida Panthers. Along the way, he built a reputation as one of the most respected Athletic Trainers in hockey.

For Wong, however, the relationships have always mattered most.

"Whether you're a star, or you're a grinder or you never played in the NHL, it doesn't matter to me," Wong said. "If we crossed paths, and I see or hear your name, then we're connected forever."

His latest award serves as another reminder of the lasting impact Athletic Trainers have on athlete safety, team culture, and the lives of those they serve. Check out the full story here
