We wanted to wish you and your family and friends a happy holiday season as well as a safe and happy 2022! 

On the evening of December 10th, a tornado tore through an Illinois warehouse that collapsed part of the building and 6 workers were killed and injuring over 40 (via NYT.) Many employees have spoken out about the fact that Amazon prohibits the use of mobile phones on the warehouse floors, except in the case of emergencies. The workers argue that their smartphone would have allowed them access to emergency weather warnings. 

Industrial companies know the value of safety training. Safety leaders have been conducting sessions on accident prevention, incident response, using personal protective equipment, and more to educate employees on how to do their jobs safely, effectively and in compliance. 

Athletes move.

That's what they do. To accomplish their goals, excessive movement is required. Running, jumping, twisting, pushing, lifting... it's all part of the game.

So, the best way to provide workplace safety coverage is...

Too expensive. 

A recent survey by Sphera has shed light on the importance of safety for companies but also identified a gap between having a culture of safety and actually improving workplace safety processes. Nearly every business wants to keep their employees safe, healthy, happy, and productive. But moving from wanting something and making it happen are two different things and, according to the survey, only about 40% of companies have a well-defined roadmap to improve safety performance. 

The football season is well underway and we're loving every minute of it. UPDATE: This mandate is currently being challenged in courts

Companies with over 100 employees will be mandated to require COVID-19 vaccinations for their workers or do regular testing, according to OSHA.

Safety professionals are always looking for ways to prevent injuries to their workers. And they are doing a very good job — since the 1970s, injuries and deaths in the workplace have been on a steady decline.
