Athletic Trainers Helping More Than Just Athletes
A recent article from SCNOW does a great job of explaining how athletic trainers are highly-qualified, skilled healthcare professionals and describes how ATs are branching out to help with injury assessment, evaluation, and prevention in a number of different settings and across various age groups.
"Some emerging work settings for athletic trainers include military, public safety, occupational health, industrial factories, emergency departments, performing arts and orthopedic clinics."
They also point out that March is National Athletic Training Month! Did you know the theme this year is "ATs are Essential to Health Care"? And we couldn't agree more here at Healthy Roster!
Check out the article (you may have to answer a few survey questions in order to view it) for even more details on how Athletic Trainers differ from personal trainers or strength and conditioning coaches. It is an important distinction that they (and we) always want to get across.
They pull out a quote from the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) that we love:
"As part of the health care team, services provided by athletic trainers include primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions."
