Lincoln Memorial University Welcomes Two Athletic Trainers
Lincoln Memorial University Athletics has expanded its sports medicine staff with the addition of Malia Matteo and MJ Yost ahead of the upcoming athletics season. Matteo returns to LMU after previously serving in several Athletic Training leadership roles at the university, while Yost brings collegiate experience from Shorter University. Head Athletic Trainer Andy Shipley said both hires will strengthen care for student-athletes, noting Matteo's familiarity with the university and Yost's fresh perspective. Matteo, who most recently worked in clinical sports medicine in Nashville, said she's excited to return to a place that has always felt like home and looks forward to supporting student-athletes once again. Xavier Promotes Jamie Brown to Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine
Xavier University has promoted Jamie Brown to Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine, where she will oversee a department that includes six full-time Athletic Trainers and sports medicine interns. Brown joined Xavier in 2022 before being promoted to co-director of sports medicine in 2024. Her background includes work with Beacon Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, previous experience with Xavier, and certifications as a Board Certified Athletic Trainer, Ohio Licensed Athletic Trainer, Certified Phlebotomist, and CPR/AED Professional Rescuer. Her promotion recognizes years of leadership and continued commitment to student-athlete healthcare. Check out the full story!
Northwestern's Seth Wolles Named GPAC Athletic Trainer of the Year
Northwestern College Director of Athletic Training Seth Wolles has been named the 2025-26 GPAC Athletic Trainer of the Year, an honor voted on by his conference peers. Wolles, who oversees Northwestern's sports medicine department, was recognized for his leadership throughout the year, including coordinating medical coverage for the GPAC Wrestling Championships and helping lead emergency medical response following the football team's bus accident. "I'm honored my colleagues in the conference think so highly of me," Wolles said, while crediting his staff for the recognition. As the GPAC recipient, Wolles now advances as the conference's nominee for the NAIA Athletic Trainer of the Year award. Read the full story!
