Amber Corcoran Named CAC Athletic Trainer of the YearGeorgia Gwinnett College’s Amber Corcoran has been honored as the Continental Athletic Conference Athletic Trainer of the Year for the 2024–25 season. In her first full year on staff, Corcoran played a key role in athlete care, injury prevention, and rehabilitation for GGC’s six intercollegiate teams. She also took on leadership responsibilities by coordinating schedules for the athletic training staff and mentoring student interns. Dr. Ian Potter, Executive Athletics Director, praised her for elevating the standard of care and embodying NAIA values such as integrity, responsibility, and servant leadership. Corcoran holds degrees from Georgia Southern University and Georgia State University. Her dedication and professionalism have made a lasting impact on the college’s athletic programs. More here!
Andrew Kegley Joins Texas A&M Men’s Basketball Staff
Texas A&M has hired Andrew Kegley as the senior associate athletic trainer for the men’s basketball team. Kegley returns to College Station after three successful seasons with Mississippi State, where he helped guide the Bulldogs to three consecutive 21-win seasons and NCAA Tournament appearances. He previously served as head athletic trainer at Arkansas-Little Rock and interned with Texas A&M’s basketball teams early in his career. Kegley earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bridgewater College, where he also played football and worked with more than 20 NCAA Division III teams. His experience includes internships with the Alabama men’s basketball program, the Tennessee Titans, and Barbell Medicine. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Kegley brings a wealth of expertise and energy to Aggie athletics. More here!
Columbus Regional Health Ends Athletic Trainer Program
Columbus Regional Health (CRH) in Indiana has announced it will lay off 50 employees and close several programs due to ongoing financial strain. Among the services being discontinued is the athletic training program that served local schools, including IU Columbus, Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation, and Flatrock-Haw Creek Schools. Additional closures include CRH’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, outpatient practices, and orthopedic services. Hospital officials stated these decisions are part of a strategic effort to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization. The changes are expected to be implemented over the next few months. This development marks a significant loss for school-based athletic healthcare in the region. More here!
