Franklin College Professor Honored with Professional Excellence Award from IATA
A Franklin College professor has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to the athletic training profession.
The Indiana Athletic Trainers’ Association (IATA) presented its annual Professional Excellence in Athletic Training Award to Dr. Tiffany Franklin, director of the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program and associate professor at Franklin College. A New Palestine resident and Franklin College alumna from the class of 2007, Franklin was one of three nominees from across the state considered for the honor.
A licensed Athletic Trainer in Indiana for 19 years, Franklin has built a distinguished career through education, mentorship, research, and service.
She returned to her alma mater as a faculty member in 2020 and has since played a pivotal role in shaping the college’s master’s program. Her research has addressed mental health in athletes, diversity in athletic training education, and injury risk reduction, reflecting her dedication to advancing the profession.
During the June 7 awards ceremony, IATA President Becky Clifton read from Franklin’s nomination letter:
“Beyond her academic contributions, Tiffany has advocated for athletic training and sports medicine through her active participation in professional organizations and presentations at regional and national conferences. Her roles as a volunteer coach, athletic trainer at community events and mentor to young professionals showcase her dedication to her profession and the well-being of athletes in Indiana.”
IATA’s Professional Excellence recognition honors Athletic Trainers who exemplify the highest standards of clinical care, leadership, advocacy, and service. Franklin has been an active member of the organization throughout her career and currently serves as its treasurer.
Kristin Flora, Franklin College’s vice president for academic affairs, praised the award recipient: “
We are incredibly proud of Dr. Franklin on this well-deserved recognition… I am grateful to IATA for acknowledging the many contributions she has made to the field in Indiana.”
