New Face, Same Dedication: Maggie Denmon Joins Troup High as Head Athletic Trainer

Articles for Athletic Trainers and News Stories

There’s a new leader in athlete care at Troup High School in LaGrange, Georgia! Maggie Denmon has officially stepped into the role of Head Athletic Trainer, bringing enthusiasm, experience, and a deep connection to West Georgia.

Maggie DenmonA Carrollton native and recent University of Georgia graduate, Denmon is no stranger to the region or to the sidelines.

“My fiancé and I have some land up in Heard County, so when this job opened up, I was all over it,” she said. “This was exactly what I was looking for, and it kind of just fell into my lap.”

Denmon may be new to the role, but she’s no rookie. Her résumé includes athletic training internships with UGA’s football, women’s soccer, and swimming and diving teams—experience she’s already put to work.

Within days of arriving, Denmon was prepping the football team for a spring game and supporting the baseball team during their GHSA AAA State Championship run.

“They threw me in right away,” Denmon said. “We had the Final 4 (for baseball) on my second day.”

Her passion for sports medicine began in high school as a student trainer at Carrollton.

“Ever since then I’ve been on this path,” she said. “Straight out of high school, I was thinking, let’s go to college and focus on athletics.”

Denmon joins a thriving athletic program. Troup’s baseball team just captured its first non-wrestling state title in school history, and wrestling remains a force, finishing as AAA state runner-up this year.

“I heard a lot of good things about the athletics here… Everybody has been super nice and welcoming,” she said. “It’ll be a good time to start touching base with all the programs and coaches.”
