Nick Roberts Honored as 2024 Midwest League Athletic Trainer of the Year
Nick Roberts, Athletic Trainer for the South Bend Cubs, has been named the 2024 Midwest League Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS)!
This recognition comes after his second season with the Cubs and follows his previous tenure with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Before joining the Chicago Cubs organization, Roberts honed his skills with the New York Mets, following his academic journey at Florida State University.
In case you didn't know, the Cubs are a Minor League Baseball team based in Indiana and a Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, playing in the Midwest League at Four Winds field. Over the past 35 seasons, they've won five league titles, most recently in 2022, and captured nine division titles.
Roberts' recognition follows in the footsteps of previous Cubs Athletic Trainers, James Edwards and Seth Clapp.
Roberts’ win highlights a consistent tradition of excellence within the South Bend Cubs' medical staff, showing that the organization places a strong emphasis on exceptional athletic training standards.
"It feels great to be recognized by my peers throughout the Midwest League. I think there were a lot of deserving Athletic Trainers, so to be given the award is an honor."
Roberts is now among 16 honorees eligible for the Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year award, which will be decided at this year's MLB Winter Meetings in Dallas, Texas.
