Park City’s One-Man Sports Med Team: Chris Antinori Makes a Lasting Impact

Articles for Athletic Trainers and News Stories

If you’ve been to a Park City Miners game, chances are you’ve seen Athletic Trainer Chris Antinori — always on the sidelines in running shoes, ready to respond.

Chris AntinoriSince joining Park City High School in 2021, Antinori has been a cornerstone of care for student-athletes across 23 sanctioned sports and even non-sanctioned programs like hockey.

With decades of experience, including eight years with the U.S. Ski Team, Antinori brings elite-level treatment to the high school level.

“High school is a great community to be around,” Antinori said. “It’s rewarding working with younger kids.”

As Park City’s only Athletic Trainer, Antinori’s role is demanding. From morning rehab to post-practice evaluations, he operates solo but with strong backing from the school and Intermountain, his primary employer.

“We’re very fortunate here at Park City High,” he said. “You’re doing a lot of this stuff on your own, but you’re also providing high-quality care.”

Despite fewer resources than at collegiate or Olympic levels, Antinori believes Park City is ahead of most Utah high schools, thanks to its equipment, location, and community support. Still, he’s advocating for more staffing:

“If we get approval through Intermountain to add staffing for the 4A, 5A, and 6A schools… it’s just a better product for the school.”

Whether helping athletes recover from injuries or hearing someone say, “go see Chris,” Antinori finds deep fulfillment in his work.

“That only happens if we’re giving a good product to our kids and coaches.”

While a return to the professional level isn’t off the table, Antinori said:

“As long as [Park City High] wants me here, I’ll probably stay.”

With him at the helm, Park City athletes are in skilled and compassionate hands.
