Predators Athletic Trainer Kevin Morley Joins Team USA Hockey at 4 Nations Face-Off

Articles for Athletic Trainers and News StoriesWhile Nashville Predators players Filip Forsberg, Gustav Nyquist, and Juuse Saros head to Montreal for the 4 Nations Face-Off, they aren’t the only representatives from Music City.

MorleyKevin Morley, the Predators’ Head Athletic Trainer, will be on Team USA’s staff for the tournament held at the Bell Centre.

“It’s such a cool opportunity,” said Morley. “It’s exciting for me personally, but also as a representative of the Preds and Team USA. I’m grateful for this chance.”

This isn’t Morley’s first experience with USA Hockey. He previously worked with U-17 and U-18 teams, but this marks his most significant international role to date. Morley vividly remembers his missed opportunity in 2010 when the invite came on his wedding day.

“I said, ‘I’d love to, but I’m getting married in six hours. I don’t think I’ll stay married if I say yes,’” he laughed.

The invitation for the 4 Nations tournament came through Predators General Manager Barry Trotz, who informed him that Team USA GM Bill Guerin would be calling. Initially puzzled, Morley soon realized it was the opportunity he had hoped for.

“I’m just really excited. The hockey world is so small—we know so many of the same people. I’m just happy to be a part of it.”

Once on board, Morley and the Team USA staff began preparations by connecting with players to ensure their needs were met.

“I asked them, ‘What routines are essential to you? What equipment can’t you go without?’ These guys are seasoned professionals, so they know what they need.”

As Team USA gears up for its opener against Finland, Morley remains focused on the shared goal: winning.

“There’s so much pride in representing Team USA and the Preds. We’re ready to bring it home.”
