USOPC Announces Athletic Trainers for 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games
The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has announced the medical staff and volunteer medical team members for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. These professionals will be responsible for the care of over 850 U.S. athletes competing in 53 sports.
In addition to the 30 USOPC Sports Medicine staff members, the committee will bring 28 additional medical professionals to Paris.
This comprehensive team will provide around-the-clock care, contributing significantly to Team USA’s success, according to Dr. Jonathan Finnoff, USOPC chief medical officer.
“These healthcare experts give their time and expertise freely to Team USA during the Games, helping create a safe environment for athletes and delegation members while playing a crucial role in the broad support of Team USA.”
The medical team will be stationed at multiple locations, including the Olympic and Paralympic Village, Team USA High Performance Center, and various remote competition venues such as Tahiti, where the Olympic surfing competition will take place.
The program comprises licensed physicians, Athletic Trainers, chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapists, and psychological services practitioners, all of whom have undergone a rigorous selection process.
Amber Donaldson, USOPC vice president of sports medicine, emphasized the extensive planning involved in assembling this team.
“We have an incredible team of providers from across the country ready to support the athletes of Team USA where they train and compete.”
She also highlighted the collaborative efforts with the organizing committee and Paris Medical Services to ensure the athletes and delegation members have a safe and successful Games.
