Have you seen these EHS safety survey results? Eye-opening to say the least...

January 3, 2022

EHS Daily Advisor Safety SurveyThe EHS Daily Advisor put out a 2021 survey "The State of Safety and Beyond" that really caught our attention. Have you seen it? Read more here. Take a quick look at their results:

They gathered insights from 314 EHS professionals on how their orgs are handling current safety challenges and those of the future.

Several questions covered safety culture - including how they would rate their company.

  • 18% — excellent
  • 64% — good
  • 16% — below average
  • 2% — poor

And leadership support was also a major factor - when asked about their organization, they responded:

  • 40% said very committed to supporting a strong safety culture
  • 36% said leadership was sufficiently committed
  • 20% said it was somewhat committed
  • 4% said their leadership was not committed

But their top challenges to building a safety culture were fascinating:

  1. Engaging and motivating employees (72%)
  2. Balancing production pressures with safety efforts (59%)
  3. Getting supervisor cooperation (45%)
  4. Providing effective training (34%)
  5. Employee unwillingness to follow rules (31%)
  6. Getting support from C-suite or upper management (26%)
  7. Measuring safety performance (26%)

What we really liked about the answers to this survey was the fact that we help organizations with most of these challenges — from getting employees to participate and engage with our Safety Ally solution to providing valuable feedback and data to measure safety performance.
